The story behind our equestrian fine art.
Sainte-Marie-de-la-Mer, early evening. Horses are so loving and kind. Firstly, they are responsive to a gentle caress; they will let you into their world as long as you treat them with love. Sometimes I also feel they want to talk. For instance, after a run, they’ll stand near me and look at my camera. They’re so curious to know what is going on. If I am busy during reviewing photographs in my viewfinder, they’ll get in my face or give me a slight nudge with their forehead, as if to say “Don’t ignore me, I just ran as fast as I could for you.”
However, this time, they didn’t come to me. Instead, all the horses stood a few feet away. I felt they were sharing an intimate secret, leaving me to also wonder what they were saying to each other?
I felt left out as a result.
Secrets of our own
We all have secrets, some so much bigger than others. Do animals do the same? Do they keep secrets to themselves? Are they sharing secrets like us humans? Nature is so mysterious. It is filled with so much beauty often hidden. We must go out and search for these little clues spread throughout the world for example. Photographing wildlife for so many years has taught me a lot of myself. I have found a connection with wildlife that has opened me to so many new experiences. I also wonder what truly goes through the minds of the animals I photograph. They must have some knowledge that I don’t know. What do your secrets tell about yourself? What are you holding onto? Above all, we have all gone through the same pains and happiness. One can always find comfort by sharing with someone we care about so much.
