Early morning – West India. I was photographing this lion pride for a while that morning. I followed them as they moved from one spot to another; mom always took the lead.
I had to continually keep my eyes on mom as she moved a lot. I’m sure she was looking for food for her family. I noticed the cubs followed mom, but unlike myself, they didn’t have to keep an eye on her, there was some untold or unseen connection. Sometimes they had their backs facing mom, but somehow they knew she was walking away. They kept on playing with each other, but when mom moved, they moved as well. As though they had an invisible cord attached to mom and she pulled them towards her every time she walked away to make sure they are safe.
What is that invisible bond we have with our moms? What do moms get by protecting us?
As a fashion photographer, I pay the models. As a wildlife photography, I can not pay the animals. I’ve developed relationships with conservation organizations such as the Wolf Conservation Center, and World Animal Protection. A percentage of the sale of these fine art prints of lion cub images are donated to the above organizations. Buying photographs from Ejaz Khan Earth gives you an inspiring photo for your walls and helps the animals.
